Yama Uba is a darkwave/ post punk band from California, U.S.A. whose members have been involved with other notable bands as Ötzi and Mystic Priestess. "Silhouettes" does an excellent job of capturing the glory days of late 80s gothic/post-punk music. Every song is constructed well involving vocal interchanges between Akiko Sampson and Winter Zora. Danceable beats are accompanied by an interesting
contribution of saxophone, synthesizers and traditional rock instruments. Tragicness is evident on "Silhouettes" in that the emotive response for the listener is likely a sorrowful one. Nods to Sisters of Mercy and Souxie and The Banshees are noticeable but Yama Uba are able to retain originality in their compositions. The ambience that is generated on their debut full length paints a delicate balance between beauty and
