Valdaudr - Du Skal Frykte
Release Date: December 6th, 2024
Soulseller Records
The resurgence of the classic 90's style of black metal is a welcomed one. Shrouded in a bleak and unwelcoming fit of wintery hatred, Valdaudr seize all that was wonderfully evil from that time. With their melodic attributes they add just enough catchiness to an otherwise cold sound. "Cold" meant as a description of fondness of course. "Du Skal Frykte" is a modern desolate vessel in which the vintage sounds of before are accessible. Brutality as an illustrative phrase here is of a wicked source deep in the empty pits of human suffering. The entire album possesses the despairing closeness of death's breath. Valdaudr have captured that special time in the Norwegian black metal scene through their modern assertion of blasphemy. The icy mountain forests are calling a tempting appeal to the mortality of humanity. Valdaudr are forcing a violent submission to the inevitable. "Du Skal Frykte" is the second album by Valdaudr. This follows their album titled, “Drapsdalen” that came out four years previous. This release is an intentional hommage to the glory days of black metal. Valdaudr have succeeded to recreating those sinister times. Support them.
