Totengott - Beyond The Veil
Release Date: July 12, 2024
Hammerheart Records
Totengott are an intriguing cross of genres. Initially they come across with an old-school metal flavor. This moves onto melancholic attributes that are flavored with doom's defining features. There are enough rough edges that Totengrott possess for a raw charm. "Beyond The Veil" is an intentional stab at originality often missing in today's metal. This album combines all their influences well into a secure whole. Nothing sounds forced and exists soundly and unimpaired. The many elements of Totengott's sound should attract a broad array of listeners. The closest comparison I can draw as a whole is the heavier aspects of Celtic Frost and Triptykon.
Totengott is a melting pot of musicians from Spain already experienced in their scene. The band was a deliberate expression of gloom and coarseness. I believe they have achieved their objective. It's worth mentioning that this album features the talents of "Eric Forrest (Voivod, E-Force), JF Fiar (Graveyard, Foscor, Jade) and Marija Krstevska (Drioma)". They have been fortunate enough to share the stage with many renowned bands as well. Totengott is worth your time to check out.
