Those Left Standing - Almere City Hardcore
Release Date: September 7th, 2024
Independent
I will state again that this is a genre that I am only mildly familiar with. What I enjoy about modern hardcore music is its extension by nature of punk music. The genre in itself has a great infusion of metal on top of the surly musical attitude that punk possesses. Those Left Standing bring their message defiantly, caustically driven by a need to have their voice heard. The songs on "Almere City Hardcore" are not a reinvention of the genre but a solid continuation of previously laid groundwork. The songs that stood out for me are the initial track "Crow" and the final track "Triumph". Musically the band follows traditional modern hardcore blueprints for song construction. As expected, they focus on a rhythmic approach to the music that is accompanied by punk style chord movements. The vocalist stands out to me with strong delivery that makes the music stand firmly with other hardcore acts. At times he has an almost hiphop sound to the way he embraced the rhythm of the song. For an independently released album I'm impressed with quality production on "Almere City Hardcore".
Those Left Standing is a Dutch band that formed out of the disbanding of For Blood and Vengeance. This creation is a representation of the, "band’s journey and personal trials and struggles over the years." The few modern hardcore bands I know tend to focus on personal growth and socially conscience messages. I think that allows a specific group of people such as myself to relate to the music. Those Left Standing are the real deal. Support them.
