Svarttjern - Draw Blood
Release Date: December 6th, 2024
Soulseller Records
Svarttjern are a Norwegian band who are an excellent combination of black metal with slight thrash metal elements. "Draw Blood" is a wickedly ice-cold trip with a resounding stab into the flesh of those virtuous and meek. The horror of Svarttjern is a pummeling voyage into the dark psyche of the cruelly homicidal. In place of scrupulous intentions, this album leaves listeners bloody and engulfed in darkened shrines of misery. Accompanied by this distress is a wretchedly aggressive fixation on early black metal. The only embellishment on "Draw Blood" is a cover of Rolling Stones's "Under My Thumb". Lyrically, this is a sound choice for the character of the album. Svarttjern are grounded in hostility and an expanding need for swift punishment. This is album is catchy and yet immorally vigorous in its execution. Support it.
Svarttjern got their start in 2003 as a two man project and evolved into a live entity soon after. They have shared the stage with many big names across extreme genres. "Draw Blood" is their newest creation following 2020's "Shame is Just a Word". Six albums in, Svarttjern are continuing to wage war on the righteous character of the morally sound.
