Sear Bliss - Heavenly Down
Release Date: June 28th, 2024
Hammerheart Records
Pulsating underneath a stretch of somber emotional masses is this full, un-yielding musical force. From darkness, Sear Bliss explodes out onto its blighted surface with conviction. Not resting into predictable black metal formulas, they choose to take a bolder approach. Keyboards and even a trombone are used alongside the expected metal instruments in inventive ways to offer unique listening. No one component is overpowering. Everything provided on "Heavenly Down" serves its greater musical purpose. Sear Bliss is rich and brimming with numerous layered elements that make for a fascinating experience. This band is excellent if you need a bit of adventure in your black metal. Tremendous in their delivery, I would not label Sear Bliss as a soft-spoken entity among their peers.
"Heavenly Down" is Sear Bliss's ninth album over their 30 year existence. Previous to this release I already had fond memories of their previous album, "Eternal Recurrence". The current album is mastered by Dan Swano that we all know and love and features artwork from Kris Verwimp.
Sear Bliss have already built their solid base over the years, This is yet another reminder on why they still matter in the extreme metal genre.
