Sarke - Endo Feight
Release Date: June 21st, 2024
Soulseller Records
Its been a while since I've spent some time with Sarke. I was originally exposed to them through an earlier album that I had enjoyed by them.
On their newest album, "Endo Feight" there are many progressive elements that I don't remember the band having. ( It could just be myself having to go back and listen again.) A few dauntless twists and turns musically compliment their already frosty atmosphere well on this album. I use "progressive" here in the sense of subtle venturesome ideas and not instrument heroics. Sarke have a unique sound that retains intelligence within a simpler musical mold. I would prefer to have the listener spend time in consideration of everything going on. There are many interesting interweaving ideas that play well off each other. It should be noted for those new to the band that Nocturno Culto from Darkthrone handles the vocals on all their albums. He takes a similar approach here I believe to later-era Darkthrone which is ok by me.
Sarke originally began as a solo project from the man of the same name. They released their first album in 2009 with the assistance of many reputable musicians from the metal world. Many albums came out after their initial release leading to this, their 8th album. Sarke live up to the expectations that seasoned talent should bring to an album's construction. I am happy to be re-exposed to Sarke again, and you should to.
