Saasta - Cesspool
Release Date: May 8th, 2026
Inverse Records

Saasta from Kotka, Finland is a band that harbors death, doom and black metal elements. They got their start in 2020 and are set to release their second album, "Cesspool" following the debut album, "Crucial To None" that was released in 2022. They pride themselves in an energetic live show that showcases their distinct darkened groove laden extreme music.

The album begins with "The Leeches". This is a catchy song that menacingly maneuvers between mid-paced altercations and sporadic outbursts of furious anger. It twists into grotesque aural forms that are appealing in their demonic essence and accessibility. "The Caricature" follows suite in a blasphemous attack heavily portraying a bleak sound uniquely their own. Instead of pummeling with a constantly fast tempo, Saasta prefer to let the song breathe in its drearily created existence. Next, "The Coffin" increases the feel of their sound. Focusing on a driving experience the band understands the need for an album to carry the listener. Distinctly memorable, Saasta have a gift for songwriting that captures an individual within a carefully constructed web of blissful misery. "The Imposter" is a shadowy entity with a maliciousness that matches the feel of the previous tracks. Portraying desolation with a steady servitude to its darkened cause. The fifth track, "The Plagued" attacks bitterly carrying the moderate evil movement of a vile encroaching nightfall. Coiling around its suffocating prey, Saasta forces submission from the soon to be devoured. "The March" has a cautious start that builds to a hypnotic exhibition. This carries a blackened doom feel that emboldens a striking spiral of destructive forces. It all eventually resolves into a quieted ending leaving the listener at an appropriately uneasy conclusion. Next, "The Envy" is a dusky song capturing a compelling venture into dismal terrains. Molding a fiendish regression into the untamed hollows of unchecked incivility. The incessant flow of diabolicalness continues with, "The Maelstrom". Like an intuitive aggressor, the song stalks its subject with a lurking hunger. "The Woe" melds a simplistic musical approach with a monstrous personality. Plotting to inspire a despondent reaction in the listener. The viciousness of their ever-expanding demonic intentions leaves no room for salvation. Coming into being with a heavy strength, "The Iron Clad" has a crushing presence. Meticulously cultivating wrath with a wall of anger-built motivation. "The Entrencher" begins with a black metal inspired chord progression. This proceeds to broaden into a catchy song that exists as a chilled blackened horror. Lastly, "The Retribution" ends the album with a death-inspired struggle for domination. Hammering relentlessly at the core of all that is good. Succeeding when the last breath is had and the victims soul is awaiting a return to the unknown.
