Rotpit- Long Live The Rot
Release Date: November 29th, 2024
War Anthem Records
The putrescent stench is present here with an engulfing wave of rancidness. This Swedish/German old-school death metal band chose a simplistic but fitting idea to form lyrical concepts around, rot. The wafting smell of decomposition carries well from the vocalist's creativity through each maggot-pulsing chunk of old-school death metal greatness. Songs such as, "Massive Maggot Storm", "Rot Freak", and "Eat Or Be Eaten" caters to the limitations our flesh will eventually succumb to. Musically, Rotpit are a strong force that will satisfy anyone that has a need for classic Swedish sickness such as Grave. "Long Live The Rot" throbs with variety succumbing to doom and traditional death metal via 1990's inspirations. The production on this album is a further catalyst for an eruption of gore. This was handled menacingly by band member, Jonny Pettersson (Massacre, Wombbath, Berzerker Legion). As the their album swells with explosive gaseous fumes, it stands as an excellent ode to the sickened charm of groove and aggression the genre possesses. This is a highly recommended album for all death metal fans.
