RAZORVOID - "Into the Void"
Release Date: October 2nd, 2026
Jawbreaker Records

Razorvoid is a new band that started in 2021. It originated through inspiration provided by d-beat punk, traditional metal, thrash metal, and old-school death metal. The band cites Motörhead, Anti-Cimex and Repugnant specifically as the bands that drove them to create what they do. They previously have self-released a cassette, "Sonic Decay", and an e.p. titled, "Terror In Time". Razorvoid prides themselves in energetic live performances and staying true to the raw sounds that originally inspired them.

"Sign Of The Curse" begins with an ominous tone before being venomously catapulted into a raw take on all our favorite old-school classics. Fusing a punk attitude with a furious metallics rage, Razorvoid offer an attack the sometimes lifeless soul of modern aggressive music lacks. Next, "Into The Void" slashes its way into the already maimed flesh of the listener. Drawing out their lifeforce with each fast-paced twist of the music's relentless butchery. A slight bluesy feel starts out, "Blasphemic Assault" before heading full throttle into the abyss of impure turbulence. Marked by demonic forces, those who witness the this torturous display of songcraft hope to stay despite its perilous intentions. Dark simplicity is its charm and it retains its crude soul throughout the song. "Desolate Future" offers a subtle reprieve from the madness in the beginning. Soon after we are launched into a livid warfront that is wrought with raging ferociousness. Everywhere are the remnants of a murderous aftermath. Still retaining the punk/metal feel throughout with relentlessness, "An Everlasting Flame" is a tempestuous song. With an unforgiving attitude the song stands firm in its destructive will. It deliberately crafts a blasphemous sonic force of intimidation. Although all the songs are catchy on the album, this one stands out for me. "Under The Lash" is a powerful track that is characterized by its violent destructiveness. With unrelenting wit the song moves with a tidal of unyielding barbaric behavior. Focused yet wild in its nature, it nurtures a chaotic emotional response. Next, "Rituals of the Damned" starts with a melodic idea perhaps inspired from the more sinister acts of classic metal. This is a short lived introduction to more frenzied metallic material. Genuinely sadistic, the band channels something truly dire. The eighth song, "Death Howling Wind" is an anthem of unrestrained maliciousness. Disturbing what little decency that may reside, the music immerses the listener in musical pestilence. "422 Gutterpunx" is a blunt force of catastrophic threats. Riding the impending doom with confrontational authenticity, Razorvoid are unforgiving. Second to last song, "White Death" takes vintage thrash mixed with old death metal and doesn't try to make it modern. They know where the blackened heart of sonic legitimacy beats strongest. This will be a favorite of mine on the album as well. Lastly, "Jaws of Perdition" seals the tomb of all the mangled masses. Leaving the remains to fester in unlit swelling grounds of bloody putrefaction. Not tiring since the initial onslaught, they close the album with an energetic and callous performance. Great album.
