Onioroshi - Shrine
Release Date: February 21st, 2025
Bitume Productions
Music can have different experiences associated with the style that is played. All of them are relevant dependent on what you hope to gain from the experience. Many emotional states are either quelled or heightened depending on our response to it. Bands such as Onioroshi are there for those times that we seek an immersive ride that transcends into areas not for instant gratification. Deep in its construction, this Italian band hope to submerge you in depths frequented by those who need substance. Each song is a trip down paths that are lit with otherworldly illumination. Our minds can easily succumb to "Shrine's" spaced-out vastness where we can lose ourselves for the nearly hour-long journey. Progressive rock here is defined by its immensity. Instead of over-the-top instrumental heroics, we have a band that took much time cultivating music that can draw you in. An almost relaxing vibe here is complimented by a denseness very few bands seek to create. "Shrine" consists of three songs with the shortest one a bit of 15 minutes. It's definitely an album to take your time with to fully appreciate the distinct subtleties present. Onioroshi are an Italian band that got their start in a different band called Kimono Lights in 2014. Come 2018 they started Onioroshi after that band disbanded. "Shrine" is their 2nd album after their initial release titled, "Beyond These Mountains". For fans of progressive rock or even post-rock, these guys wont disappoint. Highly recommended!
