Release Date: September 12th, 2026
Deformeathing Production
Neolith is a Polish death metal band that are set to release their sixth album, "Inbir", seven years after the release of, "I am The Way". According to the band this will be their, "most ambitious, complex, and polished work to date, representing a clear step forward in both compositional and sonic terms." The title of the album, "Inbir", is the Sumerian word for "war". The subject matter of the album involves, "power, mystery, spirituality, and the fate of man." The band also states that they have continued stylistically within the old black and death metal genres. The album was recorded by Haldor Grunberg and the band at Satanic Audio studio. Polish artist, Artur Szolc, handled the album's artwork.
Grotesque at the start, the first track, "Inbir" begins with agonizing sounds that breaks wide open into a furious attack. Sharp in its delivery, the entity of the song carries a sure-witted violence constructed with a modernly old-school feel. Crisp in all the right ways but still ugly enough to retain its soul. "Ashur Has Given Me a Brother" coils around the listener with robust twists that keeps the listener engaged, enthralled with the song's menacing intentions. Wrenching all into a pit of vehemently created despair where all are lost to the creator's hate-filled whims. The track bludgeons with slower ideas that eventually manifest into full assaults to finish us off in a blood-soaked onslaught. Next, "The Dawn Is Waking" has a raw spirit that is shrouded in nefarious intentions. Cruelly the song devises a plan to conquer through forceful terror. Death Metal at its heart, Neolith restricts the pure and embraces the wicked. "Modlitwa na Marny Czas" has a spoken word introduction that continues to a song fraught with speed and anger. This is a firestorm of a track that crushes the masses in a frantically demonic delivery of musical ingenuity. Eventually the song resolves into a quieter feel offering solemn closure. Next, "Of All the Gods" is a blistering raid from the onset. Offering dynamic changes, the track alternates between more darkly subdued passages interwoven with sinister velocity. The overall essence of the track is ripe with metallic authenticity. The sixth track, "Ouroboros" is a victorious strike that takes all in its forceful discharge. A serpentine sacrifice to the old sounds that inspired the genre. Subtly melodic, the song is a captivating experience that is both charismatic and vengeful. "The Four ETEMMŪ of KURNUGI" is monstrous in its personality. Relying on sudden shifts of metallic precision, the song embodies strength in its musical malignancy. Deep in its core resides a true bitterness that helps cultivate a unique musical encounter. Lastly, "Morte" begins with a crawling movement. The deliberate and darkened depth of the track is easily heard as we are immersed in its somber tones.
Settling inside us are the remnants of the hostile emotions that were vital in the song's creation. We are not alone in the animosity that the world inspires and allows artistic creations such as this to flourish. Great album.
