Mother Of All - Global Parasitic Leviathan
Release Date: April 12th, 2024
Self- Released
Mother Of All is a Danish melodic/progressive death metal band that is the original creation of Martin Haumann. I originally became aware of this band from their debut album, "Age of the Solipsist". The bassist that was featured on that album was Steve Di Giorgio who I do my best to follow as a fan. Though the lineup has changed on their second release "Global Parasitic Leviathan", the music is still excellent. What I enjoy about this album beyond their talent is their songwriting abilities. Sometimes the song is lost in the whirlwind of chaotic musicianship that progressive metal can sometimes have. I would say that much of their sound caters to more melodic death metal with a tinge of thrash. I can hear influences present from the 1990's thrash inspired, melodic death metal greats. The song on this release that stood out for me was the final track "Pillars". I'm a sucker for intelligent yet catchy music. This is a description that can be used broadly for the entire album but was most present I believe on this song. "Debt Crush" also has a neat bass interlude in the middle of the song. Mother Of All is a vessel not only for musical output but for a philosophical one as well. Martin has chosen to write about concepts related to the "pervasive turn to corporate and financial tyranny in the Western world". Global Parasitic Leviathan embodies everything you could ask out of the genre they represent. Go and support it.
