Misty Route - Ethos
Release Date: March 20th, 2026
Bitume Productions
Misty Route is a dark rock/metal band from Greece who are set to release their 2nd upcoming album, "Ethos". The band states that the new albums title is derived from the Greek word, "Ήθος". This is described as a word, "which encapsulates a person's values, morale, way of life and behavioral characteristics." In regards to the album artwork they specify that it is, "inspired by the flame that we carry deep in our souls, which refuses to go out despite the challenges, symbolizing our last resort in the darkest of times that we are going through."
Encompassing an alternative metal feel from the late 90s and early 2000's the initial track, "Hail", has a gripping start. A mid-paced rhythm is strongly complimented by the vocalists powerful entry into the song. Dark and captivating, the song breathes heavily with a sense of hope that is tainted by life's struggles. "Last Nights Dream" plays with a more diverse pulse in the start. Dark emotions are condensed into a whole with a slightly dreary feel. Perhaps rising to the surface through creative expression, inner hardships are dealt with. The third track, "Born With A Price Tag" has a pummeling beginning before turning to a more introspective feeling. A driving bass adds a solid foundation to the song with an overall varied movement throughout. Heavy in a traditional sense and not overtly angry, it is song with an emphasis on mood building. "Blind God" is articulate and perhaps mentally picturesque. Building a dismal but also uplifting emotional mindscape, at odds with itself at times much as people tend to be. Next, "No Destination" moves from heavier ideas to subtler quiet ones offering diversity. A song with small details meant for closer listening. As with previous tracks, the bass adds a feature that makes the band sound strikingly full as the instrument is meant to do. "The Corridor" begins with a peaceful expression before returning to energetic realms. The song grows to a neat part around 3:47 that has a simple but wonderful rhythm, creating a sense of excitement. The seventh song, "Freedom" features my favorite part of this band, the bassist working well with the drummer. Misty Route creates a gloomy atmosphere that relies heavily on a shadowy emotional tone. This song is no different. The finale of the album is "Dictator". Evoking this darkly expressive and metallic song, Misty Route can confidently define themselves as powerful song writers. A murky disposition that is beautifully woven together with tinges of hope and solace. Highly recommended.
