Louvado Abismo - Self- titled
Release Date: May 31st, 2024
Half Beast Records
Louvado Abismo come on like a fiery and threateningly distorted 80's gothic act. Inserting modern flair into the groundwork previously laid before, they seem to dance with an intuitive darkened scheme. On the forefront is a robust vocalist commanding attention above the framework set by the band. Not too many singers have the pronouncement that Patrícia Andrade has anymore. She forcefully draws your attention as a demonic force. Louvado Abismo takes inspiration from the greats of "no wave" music and introduce heavier rock elements to produce an original aptitude for dark music. They may not veer too far into the strangeness some Swans music possesses. They do retain just enough to make the listener slightly uncomfortable though. Truly artistic creations have that raw emotion that push the boundaries of the traditional craft. Louvado Abismo emphasize that sinister aspect residing close to our hearts that not all face head on.
Despite this being their initial offering, the band itself is made up of experienced musicians from a variety of other bands. They mention inspirations from such bands as " Christian Death with Siouxsie and the Banshees, or even Godflesh with Killing Joke, Swans and Ministry." I believe this to be an accurate portrayal of their sound. Take a listen and spend some time with this one.
