Kozoria - The Source
Release Date: October 11th, 2024
Black Lion Records
Progressive metal can be a hit or miss for me. If we were to venture to classic styles of Fates Warning, late-era Death and Cynic etc. I am more than excited to hear it. Kozoria choose to approach their sound with a modern flair. Abounding in a mixed genre delivery, they fulfill their melodic and keenly aggressive objectives with honest conviction. Most of the vocal delivery resides with towering clean vocals and is accompanied by the occasional death-growl. I am a sucker for strong classic metal sounding vocals. Nothing against death or black metal but the skill required to sing well always impressed me more. (I do have favorites in the more aggressive styled vocals that I believe offer a unique take on the style.) The instrumentation on "The Source" is not of pompous showmanship but tasteful in its song-serving conveyance. Kozoria doesn't lose me in boredom inducing, self-serving fret board antics and creates an enjoyable experience. "The Source" articulately produces a strong, skillfully developed adventure in classic progressive metal with contemporary tendencies. Check it out!
