Insidius - Vulgus Illustrata
Release Date: November 7th, 2025
Black Lion Records

Beginning in 2012, Polish death metal band Insidius has since released soon to be three albums upon the release of their upcoming album,
"Vulgus Illustrata". They have toured with many known acts such as, Vader, Marduk, Azarath, Witchmaster, Nervosa, Trauma, Vesania, Grave, and Antigama. Their first two albums, "Shadows of Humanity" (2016), and the 2018 album "Infamia" (Ermland Productions) saw the band evolving in their sound and gaining notice for their transformation. "Vulgus Illustrata" was recorded between 2023 and 2024 with Filip Hałucha at Heinrich House Studio in Poland. lyrically, Insidius states the album focuses on, "ignorance, greed, dogma, and conflict, shaping them into brutal allegories where human folly and corruption are laid bare in grotesque, apocalyptic detail."  It should be noted that on the track, “Destroy the Priests”, that Peter Wiwczarek of Vader does guest vocals and Moyses Kolesne of Krisiun does a solo.

The album is unleashed with, "The Perfect Slave". Hitting violently with a powerful precision, there is little room for doubt about Insidius's intentions. There are exciting crosses between raging death metal attacks and trance-inducing subtleties here. Insidius is very modern in their sound, but quality is not sacrificed because of the production style. "Orgiastic" is next up on "Vulgus Illustrata". After a macabre rhythmic dance between guitars in the beginning, chaos unfurls. A balancing act ensues between catchiness and brutality. Slamming viciously upon the listeners ears while retaining a songwriters expertise. The third song, "A Darkness That Divides" challenges this listener to follow all the intricate elements present on each of the ideas. The song offers new sonic insights throughout that help define Insidius as masters of their craft. They possess Just enough memorability mixed with intelligent musicianship. "Destroy The Priest" has an unforgettable opening riff that stands out among the rest of the album so far. As the song develops, it follows familiar musical paths from previous tracks. Locking in speed with just enough engaging twists among the track to entertain death metal fans. As stated earlier, this song features the addition of Peter Wiwczarek from Vader and  Moyses Kolesne of Krisiun. "Censure" begins with a break from the constant aggressive onslaught. These captivating slower ideas make a return throughout the track adding diversity to an otherwise chaotically controlled album. You may even find yourself bobbing your head along with the beat. The sixth song, "Doom Accelerator" brings back the combative nature of previous tracks. Staring out lethally fast, they also dwell in some reserved ideas to change things up. My favorite part of the track is the ending couple riffs as it provides a good contrast to the rest of the song. "Abyssful of Echoes" guides the listener though threatening madness. Angry, pushing a death-inducing pummeling force through the center of all awaiting their inevitable fate. The album ends with, "Forge of Our Hatred". Perhaps an accumulation of all the different aspects that define Insidius. Unpredictable catchiness mixed with a venomous concoction of raw brutality and quick-witted musicianship. Sparking a fury that doesn't quell when mercy is sought.
