Faint Flashes

Faint flashes
Drowning in the midnight ink
Well-intentioned blinking
Behind flytrap lashes
And you’re Venus to me.
Faint flashes
Those beacons pulsing for prey
Sinking teeth while batting
Lonely hearts pitter patting
And your stare meant to pierce.
Faint flashes
Strobing to incite
Nocturnal gnashing
Bright pools of lunar light
You’re the beast that hunts at night.
Faint flashes
I’m hypnotized by the hue
A glare so magnanimous
Even gorgons envy you
And I’m struck stone still.
Faint flashes
Alizarin splashes
A dim glow beneath my skin
I’ll keep kicking, while you’re pin pricking
You’re the voodoo queen.
Final flashes
Thirst sated at long last
My life flutters away so fast
This blind man’s had enough
In your game of blind man’s bluff.
Hallowed Out

Flooded were the Fall streets,
gushing arteries in the moon’s blood groove.
Dangling by a life’s thread
A city rigor mortis, heaped with unbelievers too scared to move.
Slipping down the sidewalks
The devoted dance with their pumpkin heads
With butchered cross-cut smiles,
the hallowed dawn their sanguine autumn threads.
And in a blaze orange sunrise,
They burn the unbelievers with their jack-o-lantern eyes.
