Fretting Obscurity suffocates with its dense funeral-doom style. Taking inspiration from greats Mournful Congregation, Fretting Obscurity persuasively accomplishes their aim. Triple melodic guitar parts are heavily in use here and add depth to the albums varied approach. Fretting Obscurity also adds style and tempo fluctuations throughout the songs to retain the listeners interest. As I've stated in previous reviews I love doom. Funeral doom is a sub-genre that only has a few excellent bands for me. This release is carefully formed with an emotionally prolific premise. Das Unglückliche Bewußtsein is worth listening to on those cold dismal days that reflect our psyche's innermost torment. 
Fretting Obscurity is the artistic creation of Yaroslav Yakos. Originally it was "influenced by existentialist literature" as the press kit states. His first album, "Flags In The Dusk" was honored with "debut of the month" on Doom-metal.com. As of now this is a solo project of his. He states that he is open in the future for it to become a live band. Check it out!
