Eons of Decay - Tome 1 Ultima Pangea
Release Date: March 15th, 2025
Self-Released
"Tome 1 Ultima Pangea" is an ambitious new project from Eons of Decay. The concept of the band started upon the meeting of its two guitarists Fred and Max. The idea for it was based on an examination of present day society and humanity's struggle in its inability to learn from its mistakes. As the band continued to grow it acquired other musicians and a novelist to flesh out the vision they had. To effectively bring their vision to people Eons of Decay developed into a muti-media project including videos and short stories with its main character "Paul" at the helm. The entire story will unfold as a dystopian trilogy with the 2nd piece all ready in the works.
Musically, Eons of Decay are a full and crisp blackened death metal experience. They have produced an intelligent and well written album with every aspect of their sound serving the entity as a whole. I was initially drawn in with the confidence of their musicianship. As the album progresses you can hear the time that went in to cultivating its movements so not to get lost in mediocrity. The vocalist, Raph (T.A.N.K, Dropdead Chaos) changes from a raspy scream to an occasional sung line offering a differing delivery. The guitars are varied enough in their ideas to allow the song to build well. Speedier passages on "Tome 1 Ultima Pangea" are complimented well by slower and clean concepts. Keyboards also play a role in their sound establishing a diverse listen. Eons of Decay are a force within their genre and I look forward to hearing more from them!
