DEVASTATIÖN - "Rise of the Dead"
Release Date: March 22nd, 2024
Empire Records
Ferocious speed and a violent battering allows DEVASTATIÖN's new album "Rise of the Dead" to energetically pronounce it's
intent on biting a bloody chunk out of the blackened thrash metal genre. No song on this album lets up at all. The expected intensity
that defines this kind of metal is thoroughly expressed on every track. A crisp and raspy production on "Rise of the Dead" leaves a raw yet full sound. Their personal influences Sodom and Destroyer 666 are evident. I also hear some nods to classic Kreator working its way in here and there. What I envision when listening to DEVASTATIÖN's music is a packed club of patch wearing thrash metal fanatics completely engaged in every note played. For fans of this genre, DEVASTATIÖN will not disappoint. The spirit they convey on "Rise of the Dead" doesn't play to mainstream fads but savagely pierces the flesh of all trendy metal goers. Catchy enough to be engaging and adequately varied enough to be interesting, DEVASTATIÖN deserves its place in your personal collection. My personal favorite on this album of the third track "Undead" that starts off with a slower melodic idea before headed into the momentum present elsewhere on the release. They are definitely anger fueled and exhaustive in their black thrash appreciation. Check it out.
