Deadvoid Inc. - Chapters
Release Date: March 13th 2026
Inverse Records
Deadvoid Inc. are a melodic death metal band from Finland that will release their debut album on March 13th, 2026 though Inverse Records.
The band was formed in 2025 by Jonne Saarinen (vocals) and Tuomas Torikka (composition & guitar). During the process of writing and recording "Chapters" the band also brought on, guitarist Jami Honkala and bassist Ville Heino. About the band its stated that, "This lineup of seasoned professionals in their field brings a fresh new subgenre to the airwaves, unlike anything you’ve heard before. Energetic songs, catchy grand melodies, furious riffs, and heart-wrenching slow sections are here to show everyone what Deadvoid Inc. is all about."
Similar to the classics of the melodic death metal genre the album starts with an articulately played acoustic idea. Classic In Flames comes to mind from their much revered Whoracle and Jesters Race period. The song progresses there into a sound entirely their own. Gripping with an ode to the genre's flair for songwriting prowess coupled with aggression. Not dwelling too long on any one idea, "Grounding The Unreal" seamlessly encompasses a competent take on one of my favorite genres of metal while keeping things interesting. "Not Worth Living" is a mid-paced assault that stresses melody and memorability. As with the first song, acoustic interludes are still present but do not detract from the heavier aspects of their sound. If anything, these elements amplify the rest of their sound through utilizing these diverse qualities. Next, "Ashes and Forgiveness" offers a toned down feel focusing on sung vocals most of the time and a slower overall personality. The song can be characterized by having a strong melancholic feel. "The Wounds" brings back the more confrontational components of Deadvoid Inc.. It strikes hard in delivery but still realizes that the song is of upmost importance. Perhaps the style done well here is comparable to a river moving effortlessly with smooth transitions over rocky terrain. There is enough rugged attributes to appease the metal fan, but still retains an easy-going catchiness to grab the ear of everyone else. The fifth track, "The Frame" continues with intelligent belligerence harboring successive movements of melodious confrontation. Capturing an understanding of true musical craftmanship, Deadvoid Inc. embodies all the superior melodic death metal traits we hope to encounter on an album such as this. "The Dawn Of Day" is a combination of "Ashes and Forgiveness" and the others on "Chapters". The main comparison comes from the sung vocals (layered with screamed ones) that play a more dominant role in the chorus. I enjoy the piano outro that added a somber feel to the song. The seventh song, "Drowned In Pain", has a rhythmic quality in the verse that you can bob your head to. It also has a gripping bridge section that relies on an simplistically effective feel. As with the prior song, the chorus is sung. As with the other songs on this album I like the quieter sections that break up the song some. The albums ends with, "Begins With Love". Alternating between their thrashing rhythms and tuneful qualities, Deadvoid Inc. know how to create something that stands out amongst others. Ensnared in this engrossing experience, a listener can feel fulfilled with their soul-fueling creations. This album holds the listener captive as should all well written music.
