Blood Red Throne - "Nonagon" Soulseller Records
Release date: 01/26/2024
Genre: Death Metal
For anyone that has been listening to death metal for awhile, Blood Red Throne should at least be on your radar. They've been around for
26 years and have had many quality albums and bigger names as members of their various lineups. I have been a fan of the band since "Come Death" came out and have enjoyed all their albums before and since that release. My experience with Blood Red Throne is that you can enjoy the consistency in their sound. Easily accessible and catchy brutality without sacrificing interesting songwriting and musicianship. "Nonagon" I feel doesn't stray too far from their previous albums. This is a good thing for people that enjoy their death metal with a modern sound paying homage perhaps to the genre's roots. I know listeners of extreme music have their favorite way the music is conveyed. What Blood Red Throne does is capture what brought me into the fold at a young age. They can create meaningful music that doesn't lose its substance among chaotically overplayed instruments trying to outdo the next modern prodigy. With that said, they are obviously talented at what they do and know how to construct tasteful songs. Each song on "Nonagon" is riff-heavy and I would imagine transfers quite well to the stage allowing listeners to effortlessly follow what the song is trying to communicate. It's albums such as Blood Red Throne's "Nonagon" that make me enjoy death metal in general.
