Assassin - "The Upcoming Terror" (reissued)
Release Date: April 26th, 2024
High Roller Records
Old thrash metal is excellent. There is an energy to that time period that is hard to capture sometimes. This could be due to many circumstances, but I like to say that it is mostly because things were exciting and new then. Assassin have that raw energy of classic thrash. This is a reissue of their 1987 debut album that will be out on High Roller Records. Ferocious in its pace and tight in its delivery, Assassin can stand solidified amongst their contemporaries of 1980's German thrash. "The Upcoming Terror" was produced by Kalle Trapp at Karo Studios who has worked with bands such as Destruction. Listeners of "The Upcoming Terror" are subjugated by these thrash metal marauders with a violent fury. Politically charged punk ideologies are crossed with vicious metal that transports keen listeners to the dawning of the genre.
Assassin is crisp in their conveyance of thrash metal though. There are no sloppy moments on this album. This album is bludgeoning and solid, even compared to modern sounds. "The Upcoming Terror" stood the test of time and has rightfully earned its ability to be reissued. Check it out.
