Basaltic Plateau - Dead Dinosaurs Echoes
Release Date: October 17th, 2025
Electric Valley Records

During chance meeting at a beach party in 2023 Basaltic Plateau's members Marco, Roberto, and Maurizio decided to embark on a journey to immerse listeners in the "evocative landscapes of beaches, dunes, sea, and untouched nature." This was the initial stage that led to the formation of the instrumental band Basaltic Plateau.  Marco and Maurizio previously performed together in the band Le Mal Noir in the early 2000's. Despite never recording an album under that name, it inspired the release of "Dead Dinosaurs Echoes". After a year, their debut album was finished with the addition of experienced drummer Roberto, who previously played in many bands in the Bologna scene. The album exists as a duel identity, partly displaying  "lysergic trance, a cosmic drift through dunes, oceans, and astral storms" and  "a dark reflection on the relationship between humankind and nature, on the corruption imposed by greed and war." The band goes on to state that the songs, "echo a buried past, geological, mythical, and ancestral, where forgotten creatures and primordial ghosts are awakened by the plundering of resources and industrial fury."

"Mystic Flow" conjures images of venturing into the vastness of driving rhythmic aural landscapes. Building to a point that opens into colorful spectrums of winding colorful exhibitions. Guiding the traveler gently through inner paths laid bare, purposely transparent for self-reflection.
"
Sleep Paralysis" is a reminder that while this voyage is temporary, the experiential effects are long-lasting. Redefining and cultivating through an immersive encounter. The next song, "Summer Dream" takes the trip further into a cascading stream marked by semi-conscious spectral transformations. A plagued existence no longer grounded to worldly concerns. "Peyote Rising" provides the eventual cathartic experience of gazing upon our own frail body from above. This leads to uncomfortable realizations of our fragile state. Once acceptance is gained we settle back onto the path of self-actualization. In a solidifying of the "new-self", "Cuttlefish Bay" is the reconnection of mind to body. Feeling through the newly attached sensations, we find a temporarily forgotten friend that was always waiting during our seemingly long odyssey. Resting sound, "Dead Dinosaurs Echoes" is the comfortable state of post-journey self-reflection. Perhaps some unpleasant understandings were reached, but a sense of bittersweet triumph is found in the newly found knowledge of self and our connection to the universe.

Basaltic Plateau is another fine addition to the excellent label that is Electric Valley Records.
